Gastronomy
The gastronomy of Malaga is based on the Mediterranean diet, with top quality local produce and, of course, fresh fish caught locally. “Espetos” (char-grilled sardine skewers), “conchas finas” (clams), “caldillo de pintarroja” (a fish soup) and “gazpachuelo” (mayonnaise, garlic, and egg chowder) are just some of the typical dishes that make it so unique. Without any doubt, it is another attraction to visit the city of Malaga. Try the taste of Malaga and enjoy the city’s great gastronomical offering in its restaurants, markets, bars, and beach bars.
Culture
Malaga is a city of museums, culture and art. There are over forty exhibition halls in the city, including the Pompidou Centre and the Russian Collection Museum which is the first branch in Western Europe of the Russian State Museum. Of course, you can experience the most universally known Malaga artist, Pablo Picasso, by visiting the house where he was born, near the La Merced Square, or the Picasso Museum, dedicated to his legacy, in the Buenavista Palace in San Agustin street. These are just some of the opportunities that Malaga offers, to make your visit a fascinating experience in which art, in all of its forms, plays a leading role.
Nature
Malaga has numerous natural spaces, as genuine and fascinating as the Mountains of Malaga Natural Reserve Park, the Guadalhorce Estuary Natural Park, the “La Concepcion” Historical-Botanical Garden of Malaga or the central Malaga Park. All of them provide various educational activities, routes and interpretation centers, as well as having areas for practicing sports activities, to turn your visit in a unique experience.
Sports and
a Healthy Lifestyle
Our city is during 2021 the European Capital of Sport and therefore includes an intense agenda of events related to sports and health like congress on Sport Medicine or active aging or the 2020 Meetings with relevant athletes.
